Makua Royale

Follow-Up

Makua’s 54th annual themed fundraising soiree, "Makua Royale” took place on Saturday, June 23, 2007 and raised a record $135,000 for Voices for Children.

Chaired by Maria Herman and Kim Prendergast, the rendezvous was held at JIMSAIR Charter at Lindbergh Field, who kindly donated their hangar for the event. The party included silent and live auctions, a “Spy Who Loved Me” photo lounge complete with a “Bond bed”, a casino, restaurant walk with cuisine from San Diego’s top restaurants including Chef Deborah Scott’s Island Prime, Cake, Flemings Prime Steakhouse in the Gaslamp, The French Gourmet, Blue Coral at the Hyatt, Old Venice, Rama, Villa Capri and many others, and the Moonraker Dance floor featuring L.A.-based d.j. sensation, Valida.

Party guests and a bevy of Bond Girls mingled among the Aston Martins, private jets, and auction items such as custom-made 007 diamond cufflinks courtesy of The Diamond Connection in Old Town . Live auction items included a European vacation with business class for two on American Airlines, use of a private jet to go on a spy-worthy rendezvous, a culinary extravaganza with Chef Bernard Guillas of the Marine Room, and much, much more!

Voices for Children congratulations Makua and its members for the outstanding job they did in creating an unforgettable event.
